Sean Jacobs is a Partner with Emens Wolper Jacobs & Jasin Law Firm, LPA. His practice focuses on Oil, Gas & Mineral Law, Oil & Gas Royalty Payments, Oil & Gas Lease and Easement Negotiations, Mineral Ownership Disputes, Wind & Solar, and Real Estate.
Sean is actively involved in counseling landowners with respect to a wide array issues related to energy and natural resources law and he regularly represents landowners in: (1) oil and gas royalty disputes, (2) oil and gas lease negotiations, (3) easement negotiations, (4) force unitization hearings under R.C. 1509.28, (5) negotiations of surface use agreements, well pad agreements, temporary water line agreements, and other agreement related to oil and gas production, (6) water take negotiations; and (7) mineral ownership disputes including disputes related to the Ohio Dormant Mineral Act and Ohio Marketable Title Act.
Sean regularly speaks to groups of landowners throughout the state of Ohio about various topics related to oil and gas and pipeline easements/rights-of-way. Sean has also presented on oil and gas leases for the Columbus Bar Association and has been included on the Ohio Farm Bureau attorney referral list “Oil and Gas Leasing Issues” and “Pipeline and Electric Transmission Line Easement Issues.” Sean has been selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star (Energy & Natural Resources) in 2018-2022.
Sean is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association, and the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation.
Sean received his B.A. from The College of the Holy Cross where he majored in Economics. He received his Juris Doctorate with awards and honors from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where he participated in the Dispute Resolution and Youth Program.
Sean currently resides in Powell, Ohio with his wife, Abby, and his two children. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing sports, attending comedy shows, travel and board games. Originally from the Philadelphia area Sean maintains an active interest in his hometown teams in addition to Ohio State.
